Mr. Joe Norwood, age 83, of Norcross, GA, passed away on Saturday, March 24, 2007. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 30, in the Chapel at the Wages & Sons Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, GA, with the Rev. Brian Sherwood, his grandson, officiating. Interment will follow at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA. Mr. Norwood was born in Monroe Co., TN to Frank & Julia Burchfield Norwood and has lived in Gwinnett Co., GA since 1968. He served in WWII for the 8th AAF in the European Theatre. After the war he eventually became a corporate pilot, flying for Sinclair Oil Co., BP Oil, and West Lumber Company. He is survived by his wife, Mary Norwood of Norcross, GA; daughter, Pam Sherwood of Kennesaw, GA; grandsons, Brian Sherwood of Ft. Worth, TX and Keith Sherwood of Acworth, GA; granddaughters, Stefanie Ezratty of Huntersville, NC and Ashley Sherwood of Kennesaw, GA; and great-grandson, Jonathan Thomas Sherwood of Acworth, GA; sister, Blanche Tilley of Blue Ridge, GA; and brother, Spence Norwood of Lithia Springs, GA. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Thursday, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wages & Sons Gwinnett Chapel, 1031 Lawrenceville Hwy., Lawrenceville, 770-277-4550.
