Winder woman attacked at home

WINDER - A 71-year-old woman was hospitalized after being attacked in her Winder home Friday, according to a Winder police press release.

The woman was alone in her East New Street home between 7 and 7:30 p.m. when a black man entered through an unlocked back door and viciously beat her, the report said.

She suffered multiple fractures, bruises and cuts to her head and face, Winder Police Department Detective Rachel Love said. Nothing else in the house appeared to be disturbed.

The suspect, who remains at large, is described as a tall black man with a large build. Police have not established a motive. Anyone with information about the crime is asked to contact the Winder Police Department at 770-867-2156.
