SNELLVILLE - Gwinnett County Police Department investigators have identified a 19-year-old man killed during a restaurant robbery Tuesday night.
Gwinnett police spokesman Cpl. Darren Moloney said Mr. Eggroll employee Julio S. Ajanel of Guatemala was shot to death by an unknown man who robbed the Chinese restaurant.
Moloney said there were several other employees in the Snellville restaurant when two black men believed to be in their 20s entered the business about 9 p.m.
He said both men were armed with handguns and one of the men followed Ajanel to the back of the store and demanded money.
"Ajanel did not speak English and did not respond," Moloney said.
Investigators believe the man fired at Ajanel, striking him numerous times. Moloney said Ajanel was pronounced dead at the scene.
He said the men fled the restaurant with an undisclosed amount of money and no other employees were injured during the robbery.
Attempts were made by the Post to call employees at the restaurant, but no one answered the phone.
"Investigators are working the case, taking statements from witnesses and going forward with the investigation," Moloney said.
Moloney urges anyone with information about the deadly shooting to call the Police Department at 770-513-5300.
