LAWRENCEVILLE - Ramps connecting Boggs Road to Ga. Highway 316 will close beginning Friday as part of the $150 million reconstruction of the interchange at Interstate 85 and Ga. 316.
"The existing Boggs Road Bridge over 316 must be lengthened to span the new 316 (high-occupancy vehicle) lanes and other ramps that are part of the new interchange at I-85," Georgia Department of Transportation spokeswoman Teri Pope said. "The fastest and most cost-effective way to do that work requires closing the ramps from Boggs to and from 316." To prepare for the closure, crews plan to work on Boggs Road today, closing the outside lane of Boggs closest to the entrance ramp from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Weather permitting, crews will close the entrance ramp from Boggs Road to Ga. 316 east Friday, and in about five months, the work will shift to the exit ramp from Ga. 316 west to Boggs Road. Work is expected to be complete by Jan. 2. The reconstruction is expected to last until the end of 2008.More like this story
