Mr. John Robert Benson, Sr., age 78, of Sugar Hill, GA, passed away on March 2, 2007. He was preceded in death by his step-daughter, Jackie Hann; great granddaughter, Kimberly Jones; and sister, Mattie Knight. Surviving are: Wife of 36 Years: Mrs. Lois Benson, Sugar Hill, GA; Daughter and Son-in-Law: Lenora and Ron Tobeck, Arcade, GA; Son: Johnny Benson, Arcade, GA; Step-Daughter: Jimmie and Ron Taylor, Sugar Hill, GA; Son-in-Law: Allan Hann, Buford, GA; Eight Grandchildren; Ten Great Grandchildren; Sisters and Brothers-in-Law: Mildred and Harlan Merritt, Lexington, SC, Sylvia and Garland Garner, Cumming, GA; Several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Benson was born on May 7, 1928 in Nashville, GA. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was retired from Gwinnett County Correctional Institution in Lawrenceville, GA. He was a member and Elder in the Buford Church of God. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 4, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Pastor Edward Davenport officiating. Interment in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Gainesville, GA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Arrangements by Junior E.
