Copper wire stolen

from construction site

•LAWRENCEVILLE - An electrician reported the theft of $2,000 worth of copper wire from a Lawrenceville construction site.

According to a police report, the wiring was pulled from the ceiling in the electric room and cut off of panels at the 3500 block of Sweetwater Road.

Police have no suspects in the incident, which occurred between 6 p.m. Sunday and 6:30 a.m. Monday.

Four men attacked, carjacked

•NORCROSS - Four men were assaulted and forced out of a vehicle Tuesday, a police report said.

Police were called to Northside Hospital to speak with the men who said they were exiting one of the men's Honda Accord parked outside a home on Meadow Rue Lane when two black men wearing ski masks and armed with guns demanded their money and the keys to the car.

When they handed over their wallets and cell phones, the two men began hitting them with their weapons. The two men fled in the Honda with the men's belongings.

All four men suffered injuries to their heads from the attack.

Lightning causes 2 house fires

•SNELLVILLE - Lightning touching ground seemed to be the cause of two fires in Snellville on Thursday night, firefighters said.

Lightning reportedly struck a dryer vent on the exterior of a home on Round Stone Drive about 9:45 p.m. Thursday.

The fire caused minor damage to the vent and exterior wall, and no injuries were reported.

Firefighters also responded to reports of flames and smoke coming from the attic of a split-level house on Estes Park Drive shortly before 9:30 p.m.

Lightning reportedly struck the roof peak and ignited a fire in the attic.

The woman who lived at the house was not home at the time, and no injuries were reported.

The woman was displaced from the home and planned to stay with nearby relatives, according to a Fire Department press release.
