LAWRENCEVILLE - A grand jury indicted Wednesday a 17-year-old on charges related to the rape of a 15-year-old girl.
Darrian Dewayne Bryant of Stone Mountain has been charged with one count of rape, two counts of kidnapping with bodily injury, nine counts of aggravated assault, 17 counts of burglary, one count of selling marijuana and one count of carrying a weapon on school property, according the indictment released Thursday.
Bryant was arrested in April after police suspected the teen in the burglary of multiple homes as well as assaults in the East Parke subdivision off of Lakebrooke Run.
The teen, a former Parkview High School student, was later named a suspect in the rape of another teenager who was also a resident of the Stone Mountain neighborhood.
The 15-year-old victim had returned home from school March 28 when she was bound and sexually and physically assaulted.
The charges connected to Bryant were announced by Gwinnett police officials at a community meeting April 3 to address residents' concern with the crimes in East Parke and surrounding areas.
Bryant was supposed to appear at a preliminary hearing related to the charges in April, but the teen's attorneys issued a waiver, relinquishing Bryant's rights to the hearing.
Bryant remains in the Gwinnett County jail and should be expected to enter his plea at an arraignment hearing sometime in the next 30 days.
