LAWRENCEVILLE - A single-car accident on Interstate 85 caused the road to be closed south of Ga. Highway 20 for about an hour Wednesday.
Firefighters used specialized rescue tools to extricate the driver of a pickup truck that ran off the interstate into a tree, according to Lt. Thomas Rutledge of the Gwinnett County Fire Department. All northbound lanes were closed while the firefighters worked to free the victim, who was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville with serious injuries. The accident occurred at about 6:52 pm., and police opened one lane of the interstate about 40 minutes later, Rutledge said.More like this story
