John Homer Spivey, Jr., age 89, of Lilburn, died June 22, 2007. Mr. Spivey was an Army veteran of WWII serving with the 80th Infantry division, and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a Deacon at Moreland Ave. Baptist Church, and was retired building superintendant from the William Oliver Building after 50 years. Homer was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Margaret Smith Spivey, and is survived by son, Mr. and Mrs. John R. (Carolyn) Spivey of Lilburn, and three grandchildren, Katie, Kevin and Kyle Spivey. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Wednesday, June 27th from Ward's Stone Mountain Chapel with Rev. Ted Boland officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8pm. Arrangements by Horis A. Ward Stone Mountain Chapel, Rockbridge Rd. at Five Forks Trickum Rd., 770-381-5722.
