Oris Greason, age 85, a Gwinnett County resident, died Thursday, June 21, 2007 at Delmar Gardens of Gwinnett in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Oris was born on June 8, 1922 in Lawrenceville, Georgia to Joe Emory Parks and Liller Mae (Campbell) Parks. She married George Robert Greason on December 24, 1943 in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Oris was employed by Genesco and by Tara Materials, Inc. She enjoyed going to church, cooking, dancing, dressing up, staying up late, shopping, and spending time with her family. Oris is survived by her granddaughters, Brenda Gail Verch and Marilyn Greason Steimer and her great grandchildren Aaron Robert Verch, Ethan Charles Verch, Thomas John Steimer III, and her brother Joe Emory Parks, Jr. Funeral services will be held at Tom M. Wages Lawrenceville Chapel on Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery. HORNE, AVONEL

Avonel Morris Horne, age 71, of Loganville, died Thursday, June 21, 2007 at her daughters home on St. Simons Island. Mrs. Horne was a native of Glynn County and was a member of the 1953 graduating class of Glynn Academy. She went to South Georgia College then graduated from Georgia Teachers College (now Georgia Southern University). She then attended Georgia State University where she obtained her Masters degree and six year specialist degree in Business Education. She taught in several public school systems including Glynn Academy, Charlton County High, and Cross Keys High School in Atlanta. She also taught at the college level at Brunswick College, Clayton State College, and Gwinnett Tech prior to her retirement. She was preceded in death by her parents, S.F. and Ilene Horne of Brunswick. She is survived by a daughter, Lynn (Curtis) McCarthy, St. Simons Island; one son, Jody (Kim) Horne, Grayson, GA, and four grandchildren; Tyler Horne, Kathryn Horne, Garrett Horne and Rose Marie McCarthy. Visitation will be held Sunday, June 24th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be Monday at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Reverend Jimmy Crandall and Reverend Tommy McMillan officiating. Active pallbearers will be Harry Clark, Tommy Dunham, Dave Esmonde, Donald Gleaton, Gene Godley, Don Jones, and Larry Morris. Honorary pallbearers will be the Glynn Academy class of 1953. Mr. Dave McCormick, age 59, of Suwanee, GA went home to be with his Lord on Friday, June 22, 2207. He was a resident of Suwanee, GA for the past nine years. He is survived by his: Wife of 37 years: Mrs. Sandi McCormick, Suwanee, GA; Son: Daniel McCormick, Suwanee, GA; Parents: Charles and Grace McCormick, Buford, GA; Brother and Sister-in-law: Craig and Tara McCormick, Schaumburg, IL; Sister and Brother-in-law: Anne and Mark Smith, Fort Worth, TX; several Aunts, Uncles, Nieces and Nephews. Mr. McCormick was born February 24, 1948 in St. Louis County, MO. He was a 1966 graduate of McClure High School, Florissant, MO and a 1970 graduate of the University of Missouri, Rolla, MO. He was retired from Cookson Electronics in Alpharetta, GA. He was a member of the Shadowbrook Baptist Church, Suwanee, GA where he was also a member of the Co-Ed 6 Sunday School Class. He was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with his family. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at Shadowbrook Baptist Church, Suwanee, GA with Pastor Rev. Bobby Linkous officiating. There will be a reception at the church following the service.
