DULUTH - Investigators are working to determine what caused a 40-year-old man to run his Mustang off the road Friday morning.
Gwinnett County Police Department Spokesman Cpl. Darren Moloney said Dennis Scott Rice of Flowery Branch was killed Friday when his car struck a traffic barrel, leaving the left lane, swerving right, traveling down an embankment and overturning. Moloney said Rice was traveling east on Ga. Highway 316 west of Boggs Road about midnight when he wrecked. Rice's Mustang was the only car involved in the accident. Moloney said there are no obvious signs as to why Rice's car left the roadway. "At this time, it is unknown if drugs and or alcohol were factors in the fatality," Moloney said. Rice was wearing his seat belt, Moloney added. Investigators are hoping more information will be available after the medical examiner completes an examination and toxicology reports. Moloney said results from the medical examiner would take weeks.More like this story
