Atlanta Falcons fire head coach Mike Smith December 29, 2014

Winton Frank Rice was born in Clarke County, Georgia on January 17, 1929 and passed on July 27, 2007 after a long illness. Mr. Rice was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Grace Hutchins Rice, sister, Gail, and brother, James. Mr. Rice is survived by his wife, Mary Grace Breedlove Rice of Monroe; daughters: Cindy Peters and Melissa Knight, both of Monroe; sons-in-law: Steve Peters and Keith Knight; grandsons: Michael and Matt Peters; sisters: Carolyn Brunen of Snellville and Patsy Cunningham of Stockbridge; brother: Royce Rice of Plains; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. Rice was a veteran of the US Army and served in the Korean War. He was a long haul truck driver for Ryder PIE Nationwide and retired after 30 years of driving with no chargeable accidents. In his retirement he raised cattle and farmed. He is a former member of the Walton County Cattleman's Association where he served on the Board of Directors. He was also a member of Centerhill Baptist Church in Gratis. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, July 29th at Westlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ted Sims, Ted Brunen, Henry Breedlove, Michael Peters, Matt Peters, and James M. Sims. Meadows Funeral Home, Inc. was in charge of arrangements.
