RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil - Regina Jaquess of Suwanee won gold and bronze medals Tuesday, giving her three medals in water skiing at the Pan American Games in Brazil.
The 23-year-old won her gold medal Tuesday morning in women's jumping with a leap of 143 feet, good enough for first place by just two-tenths of a meter over Canada's Whitney McClintock. She also tallied 7,600 points to win the bronze medal in women's tricks on Tuesday afternoon.
Jaquess won her first medal of this year's Pan-Ams on Monday, taking a silver in women's slalom. She now has won six career medals in the Pan-Am Games, more than any other U.S. water ski athlete since the sport became part of the event's program in 1995.
Although she graduated from Freeport (Fla.) High School, Jaquess grew up in the Atlanta area and her sister Renee attended Duluth High School.
