Braselton to play 'Over the Hedge'

BRASELTON - The town of Braselton will celebrate National Small Cities and Towns Day by hosting "Over the Hedge" Friday night.

The movie will be shown in Braselton Park. Entertainment begins at 7 p.m. in the town's downtown park one block west of Ga. Highway 53, and the movie begins at dusk.

Family movie night is a free presentation, including snow cones, popcorn, candy, a moon bounce and inflated slide. Patrons are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets.

Student honorary Braves captain

ATLANTA - Wednesday, Grayson Smith was the honorary team captain for the Atlanta Braves game against the Cincinnati Reds.

Grayson is nine and goes to Kids 'R' Kids on Pleasant Hill Road in Duluth. He is going into fifth grade and attends Chesney Elementary School.

Parks' opening to be held Saturday

STONE MOUNTAIN - The grand openings of Sweet Water and DeShong parks will be held Saturday.

The ceremony at Sweet Water Park will be held at 9:30 a.m. followed by festivities until 1 p.m.

The ceremony at DeShong Park will be held at 11 a.m. followed by festivities until 2 p.m. Sweet Water Park is located at 800 Bethesda School Road in Lawrenceville. DeShong Park is located at 2859 North DeShong Road in Stone Mountain.

Center to host Cowboy Bingo

LAWRENCEVILLE - The Gwinnett Senior Center will host Cowboy Bingo Friday from 10:30 a.m. to noon.

Hot dogs and hamburgers will be provided with $1 admission. Participants are asked to bring a side dish and a white elephant prize ($3 or less) out to the Gwinnett Senior Center.

The event is for seniors 50 or older. Preregister by July 16.

Theater holding open auditions

WINDER - Auditions for the next Main Stage production of the Winder-Barrow Community Theatre will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. and Monday at 7 p.m. at the new Colleen Williams Theater on Athens Street in Winder.

The show will be "And Then There Were None" by Agatha Christie, and requires men and women of all ages from mid 20s and up. No prepared material is required.

The Colleen Theater is located above the Piedmont Arts Center on Athens Street in Winder. Please drive around to the right side of the building and park in the parking lot there. The main entrance to the theater is on the side of the building in the Lanier Tech parking lot.
