DULUTH - A DeKalb County police officer tried to talk his way out of being arrested last weekend, according to a Duluth police report.
Michael Andrew Oneal's silver Chrysler 300M was pulled over by a Duluth officer Saturday morning when the officer allegedly saw Oneal driving recklessly along Pleasant Hill Road. According to the report, the officer could smell alcohol on Oneal's breath. The report said the 43-year-old from Cumming admitted to having a few drinks at a Braves game earlier in the night and tried to convince the Duluth officer not to arrest him, saying, "We are brothers, just let me park my car," and "I have helped other officers who have been drinking and driving." A cup containing beer was also found in Oneal's vehicle, according to the report. An Alco Sensor test registered Oneal's alcohol blood level as .100. The legal limit in Georgia is .08. Oneal was arrested and taken to the Duluth Police Department where his alcohol level was recorded as .103. The DeKalb Sergeant was booked into the Gwinnett County Jail shortly before 2 a.m. Saturday and posted bond the same day. Oneal was charged with having an open container in his vehicle, speeding, driving under the influence and failure to maintain his lane.More like this story
