Steven Seagal sues law firm he once hired

LOS ANGELES - Steven Seagal is suing a law firm that once represented him, accusing it of charging him excessive fees, according to court papers.

The actor hired Loeb & Loeb in April 2002 for when he testified before a federal grand jury and in the criminal trial of his former business associate Julius Nasso, the lawsuit says.

Loeb & Loeb charged Seagal nearly $1.1 million, according to the court papers, filed Thursday.

Seagal paid about $500,000 but became skeptical and obtained a legal audit that determined he was 'substantially overcharged,' according to the lawsuit. Seagal is seeking at least $450,000 in general damages.

Writer loses copyright case against Fox

BEIJING - A court ruled Friday that a Chinese science fiction writer did not have enough evidence to prove 20th Century Fox stole his ideas when making the 2004 movie 'The Day After Tomorrow.'

Li Jianmin, 43, had said there were at least 308 scenes in the film that were substantially similar to the concept and plots of two plays he completed in 2001 and 2002, the official Xinhua News Agency reported.

The apocalyptic film, starring Dennis Quaid and Jake Gyllenhaal, depicts a world in which climate change triggers a cascade of events that practically flash-freeze the planet.

Snoop Dogg gets own reality series

LOS ANGELES - Snoop Dogg's home and work lives will be on display in a new reality series, E! Entertainment Television said Friday.

The series, scheduled to debut in late 2007 and described by the cable channel as 'hilarious and heartwarming,' will show the hip-hop heavyweight trying to balance his different worlds.

'The juggling act that Snoop faces day-in, day-out between career and family is certain to resonate with our viewers,' said Ted Harbert, president and CEO of Comcast Entertainment Group, which operates the E! channel.
