Mill Creek Southern won last weekend's best-of-three series with Dacula American 2-1, earning the Dixie Youth Baseball AA State Tournament title at Collins Hill Park.

Mill Creek won Game 1 by a comfortable 14-2 margin before Dacula bounced back for a 1-0 victory in Game 2 in the matchup of 7- and 8-year-olds. The Hawks won the deciding game 3-0 for their second straight AA state title, defeating Dacula in the finals for the second year in a row. Only one player on this year's Mill Creek team was on last year's state championship squad.

Mill Creek Southern's players are Cole Wroble, Kyle Simpson, Mason Parr, Steven Casey, Sean Akins, Cory Riley, John Mills, Logan Patrick, Stephen Cullen, Tyler Calvert, Jay Pendley and Will Hardigree. The team is coached by John Akins, Brett Pendley and Joe Hardigree.

Dacula American's roster includes Zach Richardson, Patrick Diaz, Bailey Skelley, Michael Cherwenka, Troy Allen, Jason Fointno, Robert Brooks, Tyler Thrash, Michael McGinnis, Gino Palumbo, John Paul Kakos and Ryan Vigue. The team is coached by Paul Kakos, Mike Cherwenka and Keith Allen.

Grayson wins GAA/Baycreek wooden bat tourney

Grayson defeated Parkview 5-0 in the championship game to take first place in the inaugural Grayson Athletic Association/Baycreek Wooden Bat Tournament.

Corey Monroe threw a two-hit, no-walk complete game in the finals. Monroe is joined on the championship team by Marcellus Fenner, Tyler Swafford, Jay Underwood, Alex Reese, Robbie Schamerhorn, Matt Burrows, Andy Barry, Josh Richardson, Joel Lohsen, Jonathan Fowler, Brandon Robertson and Trey Boothe.

Buford minor league boys win title

The Buford Wolves minor league boys from Buford City Park won the Gwinnett Sub-District championship for District 6.

The Wolves, who had a 5-0 record through the county tournament, are coached by Ken Gibson, Matt Edwards and Brian Wysocki. Members for the Buford team are: Cole Dudley, Freeman Edwards, Keyton Gibson, Chase Hunter, Damian Phillips, Jake Pratt, Steven Reese, Tyler Shipman, Connor Tarleton, Avery Turner, Nicholas Wiley and Steven Wysocki.

Brookwood team on a roll

The Brookwood Athletic Association Major Girls All-Star Team has built a 14-0 record through the South Gwinnett Classic, the Pre-Tri-County Tournament and the Tri-County Tournament.

The 12-and-under team consists of Amber Nixon, Brielle Doering, Tori Cole, Brandi Doering, Megan Litumbe, Becky Bass, Bethany Higgins, Alicia Ashburn, Morgan Kosmala, Amanda Falcon, Sydney Jumper and Kenan Smith. The coaches are Mike Doering, Mike Cole, Danyl Litumbe, Scott Bass, Luis Falcon and Bud Jumper.

Worth Cobras Black win ASA state title

The 10-and-under Worth Cobras Black won the ASA State Tournament last week in Woodstock, advancing to the ASA National Tournament in Auburn, Ala. later this month.

Members of the championship team are Ansley Jones, Katie Etheridge, Morgan Fore, Taiylor Rinehart, Chase Battle, Danna Downs, Alex Frazier, Sheridan Schuster and Cara DeSandre. The team is coached by Scott Jones, Kelly Rinehart, Guy Battle, Rob DeSandre and Donald Etheridge.
