Former Spector lawyer testifies
n LOS ANGELES - Testifying under the threat of jail, one of Phil Spector's former attorneys said she saw a forensic expert at the scene of Lana Clarkson's death pick up a small white object - which prosecutors contend could have been a fingernail fragment that would indicate a struggle.
Attorney Sara Caplan testified, however, that the object was too large to be a missing fragment of the actress' nail.
Called by the prosecution in Spector's murder trial, Caplan gave essentially the same story she had in a previous hearing without jurors present. This time she used a diagram to compare sizes.
Beckhams arrive in Los Angeles
n LOS ANGELES - Soccer great David Beckham and his wife, 'Posh Spice' Victoria, arrived with their three children to begin their new life in Los Angeles, greeted by the familiar sight of reporters and photographers.
Authorities set up barricades at Los Angeles International Airport as if the arrival of the soccer star and the Spice Girl was a red carpet premiere. The British power couple held hands as they walked out of a terminal shortly before 8:20 p.m. after arriving aboard a British Airways flight from London.
Their three children accompanied them on the flight, but did not exit the terminal with them.

Broadcast Music Inc. announced Thursday that it will bestow upon Nelson its icon designation during its 55th annual Country Awards Nov. 6 in Nashville.
BMI gives the honor to songwriters and artists who have had a 'unique and indelible influence on generations of music makers." With pal Waylon Jennings, Nelson was part of country music's outlaw movement that eschewed the conventions of Nashville's Music Row.
