' Townhome fire contained to bedroom
LILBURN - Firefighters are unsure what caused a fire at a townhome on Johns Way in Lilburn on Sunday morning.
Firefighters found smoke coming from a unit about
4:16 a.m., and a small fire was contained to a bedroom, according to a Fire Department press release.
Three occupants were assessed at the scene for exposure to smoke.
' Child playing with matches starts fire
DULUTH - Firefighters believe a child playing with matches in the closet of a Duluth home on Howell Wood Trail caused a fire at the home Sunday night.
According to a Fire Department press release, flames were contained to the bedroom closet on the second floor.
The fire caused moderate damage to items inside the closet and sent smoke throughout the second floor.
The occupants were home and escaped unharmed, the release said, and were displaced for the night due to the odor of smoke.
' Woman attacks man at hotel
NORCROSS - A guest of the Extended Stay on Pelican Drive in Norcross said he was assaulted and robbed at the motel by a woman Thursday morning.
According to a police report, a woman knocked on the man's door shortly before 8 a.m. asking if she could borrow his cell phone charger and some money. When he declined, she broke the latch on his door and entered the room, wrestled the 65-year-old man to the floor and then fled with his wallet.
Police found an inmate property storage receipt outside the room that may lead them to the woman.
' Men rob restaurant owners
DULUTH - The owner of the Mandarin House III on Pleasant Hill Road in Duluth said he and his wife were robbed outside the restaurant Thursday night.
The couple were walking to their vehicles about 10:30 p.m. when two, masked black men, one armed with a gun, approached the owner demanding money. When the man said he did not have any money they moved on to his wife, threatening her and hitting her in the head with a gun and grabbing her purse, a police report said.
Inside the woman's purse was the cash from the night's food sales.
