BRASELTON - The elegant Chateau Elan is going a little retro.
The inn and winery is hosting a summer concert series called Groove with the Grapes.
The concerts will be held from July to September at a covered pavilion on the resort.
Concert-goers are welcome to bring picnic baskets, as long as they don't include any outside alcohol. Chateau Elan will provide a cash bar that features the resort's famous wine.
Many different bands play throughout the concert series, but each shares a common theme. The bands' music is a throwback to the beachy sounds of the 1960s.
"It's a very relaxed atmosphere," said Danielle Denham, a reservations employee at the Chateau Elan.
In addition to the concert, the resort also offers incentive to get there early. Before each concert, audience members can participate in beach or "shag" dancing lessons.
These mini-dance classes help enhance the beach theme and the relaxed vibe of Groove with the Grapes.
This is the second year for Groove with the Grapes, and Chateau Elan hopes it will follow last year's success.
"It was a sellout in 2006," said Jill Phillips, executive director of Chateau Elan.
Many of the bands are returning from last year's series, due to popular demand from the audience.
"There have been a lot of requests for the bands to play again," Denham said.
For those people that wish to enjoy the music and not worry about the drive home, Chateau Elan offers summer concert overnight package.
The package includes two tickets to the summer concert, inn accommodations for two guests, and a late checkout the following day.
Tickets are available to everyone online, and they start at $30.
