LAWRENCEVILLE - A toxicology report revealed Brookwood quarterback Daniel Peek had cocaine in his system the night of his fatal accident, police said Friday.

The report, released about two weeks after blood-alcohol content tests showed Peek was legally drunk at the time of the May crash, completes the police investigation, Gwinnett County police spokesman Cpl. Darren Moloney said.

No charges are expected to be filed in the case, Moloney said.

Peek, 17, died May 9, days after he crashed his Jeep into a mailbox on Highpoint Road near Vail Court in Snellville. The high school junior, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle and spent a few days in intensive care before he died.

At the time of his crash, Peek had a blood-alcohol content of 0.138. In Georgia, a person with a blood-alcohol content of 0.08 is considered legally intoxicated when driving, but those under 21 can be charged with driving under the influence with a blood-alcohol content of 0.02.

About 1,500 people, including students from Brookwood and Grayson High, attended Peek's funeral. The teen started as a quarterback at Brookwood and at Grayson, where he attended school during his ninth- and 10th-grade years.
