Joseph Lamar Dobbs, age 90, of Conyers, passed away July 2, 2007. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 5, at Salem United Methodist Church at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Randy Kanipe officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Stockbridge. Mr. Dobbs was born on September 12, 1916 in Newton Co, and was a member of Salem United Methodist Church and had attended Cedar Grove UMC for many years. Mr. Dobbs served in the US Army in WWII, and retired from Sears Roebuck & Co., after 40 years of service. After retiring he spent his life serving the Lord and the Church, gardening and enjoying his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years: Martha Bryan Dobbs; children, Bobby and Estelle Dobbs, Bryan Dobbs and Myrium McElroy; grandchildren and spouses, Jeannine and Trent Goggans, Pennie and Kenneth Pass, Margaret and Rich Fogarty, Dianne and Andy Jones, Elizabeth and Les White, Jeff and Melissa Dobbs. Great-grandchildren: Christie and John Patterson, Joseph Goggans, Ava Pass, David Jones, Bryan Jones, Kathleen Goggans, Lacey Pass, Samantha Ramey, Jamie White, Greg White, Chris Pass, Ryan Dobbs, and Rachel Dobbs; great-great-granddaughter, Amber Nicole Patterson; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Brown. He will be greatly missed by all of his family including many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, and son-in-law, David McElroy.
