Exxon manager chases robber

•SNELLVILLE - The manager of the Exxon gas station at 3021 Centerville Highway told police Sunday a man attempted to rob the convenience store.

According to a police report, a black man attempted to purchase a pack of mints and then sprayed the manager with pepper spray when he opened the register.

The manager was able to run after the man, detaining him for a moment before the suspect fled toward a Kroger without any money.

Arriving firefighters treated the manager at the scene and he was released.

Surveillance video was provided to police.

Thief takes tire, wheel from parked car

•LAWRENCEVILLE - A woman returned to her car parked outside of Discover Mills Sunday afternoon, finding her tire and wheel missing from her vehicle.

According to a police report, the woman's Toyota Camry was parked near the Burlington Coat Factory at 5900 Sugarloaf Parkway when someone removed the right rear tire, wheel and lug nuts from her car.

Fire destroys mobile home

•DULUTH - A Monday evening fire destroyed a singlewide mobile home on Pleasant Lake Village Lane near the Saratoga Springs Apartments in Duluth, county fire officials said.

The Gwinnett County Fire Department was dispatched to the scene at 6:49 p.m., Lt. Thomas Rutledge said. Flames could be seen from several miles away as crews responded, he said.

The mobile home was vacant, and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is undetermined and under investigation.
