LILBURN - Police are investigating a Wednesday night drive-by shooting that they suspect might be gang-related.
Officers from the Gwinnett County and Lilburn police departments late Wednesday night responded to a report of a car-to-car shooting, according to a Lilburn police report.
The alleged victims, a 19-year-old man and 17-year-old girl, were not injured, but the suspects are still at-large.
"The possibility certainly exists that this case may turn out to be gang-related in nature," Lilburn police spokesman Sgt. Tyler Thomas said. "The statements of one of the victims indicates that it could be."
The incident reportedly happened at the intersection of Indian Trail Drive and Hillcrest Drive in Lilburn.
According to the report, the red 1998 Ford Mustang occupied by the victims was stopped at a traffic light on Hillcrest Drive waiting to turn left when the suspect vehicle pulled up to the right of the Mustang.
The male victim said he heard multiple gunshots and "put his head down" until the shooting stopped, when he then saw the fleeing car turn right onto Indian Trail Road toward U.S. Highway 29, the report said.
The male victim also said the suspect car, described as a blue four-door Buick, had three or four Hispanic occupants, the report said.
Two shell casings found at the scene were collected by Gwinnett County crime scene technicians, the report said.
The Mustang, which was driven to the residence of one of the victims on Durham Ridge Road after the shooting, was also seached for evidence.
Two rounds and some bullet fragments were recovered.
Gwinnett police initially responded to the call at the residence, located in the county's jurisdiction, but it was later learned that the shooting did in fact occur in Lilburn's jurisdiction, the report said.
Anyone with information leading to an arrest is asked to call the Lilburn Police Department.
