SUWANEE - Gwinnett County Public Schools on Wednesday launched an online application program that school officials say will fast-track the hiring process.
The school system has been working on the program, e-Recruit, for two years, and the school system anticipates the program's implementation will bring about "substantial savings in a number of ways," said Jorge Quintana, the school system's spokesman
"It improves the efficiency and timeliness of the hiring process and it cuts down on the amount of paper used," Quintana said. "GCPS will be able to take an application, process it, review it, schedule interviews, and hire qualified personnel more efficiently. The end result will be getting qualified teachers in the classroom, faster."
Applicants will be able to use e-Recruit to apply for any and every vacant positions, including teaching, leadership and support staff positions. The application includes a checklist of items that applicants will need to submit to complete the application, and e-Recruit will keep applicants informed of the status of their application, Quintana said.
Principals will also be able to view applications as they are submitted.
At job fairs, the school system will ask attendees to fill out an application before arriving at the fair, Quintana said. School officials will also hand out information at the fairs to let others know how to apply using e-Recruit.
The online application can be found on the GCPS Web site, www.gwinnett.k12.ga.us, by clicking on "Careers" under the Quick Links menu.
The Web site also has a list of frequently asked questions and application instructions.
