Kevin J. McMahon, age 54, of Alpharetta, GA, died on Friday, December 29, 2006. Kevin was a 1981 graduate of Life Chiropractic College and began the Alpharetta Chiropractic Center in 1982. He loved music. Kevin was preceded in death by his father, John D. McMahon and his brother, John W. McMahon. Johnny Stewart, age 64 of Buford, and formerly of Duluth and Habersham County, died Monday, January 01, 2007, at Peachtree Christian Hospice following an extended illness. Born in Habersham County on January 01, 1943, he was the son of the late Virgil & Effie Mae Wheeler Stewart. He was a retired truck driver with Sherwin-Williams who enjoyed motorcycles and car racing and was of the Church of God faith. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Lee Roy Stewart, Bobby Stewart, Billy Stewart and Doug Stewart; and sisters, Louise Patterson and Deborah Stewart. Frances Maguire died on January 1, 2007 at Embracing Hospice Care in Snellville, Georgia following a five year battle with breast cancer. Fran was born in Charleston, SC on November 3, 1952, daughter of Frances Moore Maguire and the late Dr. Carter Patrick Maguire MD. She graduated from Ashley Hall School in Charleston and earned her BA degree from Agnes Scott College in Decatur, GA. Her professional career included positions with the Coca Cola Company, Southern Bell, AT&T, Burton-Campbell Advertising Agency, Corporate Media Communications, Sirius Images Corporation, the Gwinnett County School System, and Gwinnett Magazine. In recent years, she worked as a freelance writer for a number of magazines including Veranda, Unique Homes, Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles, and others. She was awarded two Gold Georgia Gamma Awards in 2003 by the Magazine Association of Georgia for best feature in Gwinnett Magazine and Best Essay in Atlanta Parent Magazine for articles on her struggle with breast cancer. Fran was a member of Smoke Rise Baptist Church where she served as Deacon and a member of the Choir. She is survived by her husband, Glenn A. Paist and daughters, Jessica and Katherine, of Lilburn; mother, Frances Moore Maguire of Gainesville; siblings and families, Judith and Terry Tindel and sons, Adam and Andrew of Atlanta; Virginia Poole and daughter and son, Jennifer and Sam Poole, of Brentwood, TN; Carter and Charlotte Maguire and children, Carter, Caroline, and Ashton, of Atlanta; Patricia Maguire of Coral Gables, FL; and Kenneth Maguire of Hilton Head. Alvy R. (Pete) Thacker, age 75 of Snellville, GA, passed away Monday, January 1, 2007 at St. Anthony Medical Center in Crown Point, IN of heart failure and pneumonia. He was born on March 19, 1931 to Richard and Monie Thacker in Norwood, OH. He was a chef by trade. He worked for the Atlanta Falcons Football team for fifteen years. Before that he cooked for the Waffle House. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Jane Thacker; two sons, Dan and Jeff; two daughters, Cathy Kennedy and Terri Quinn; 8 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; 1 sister, Millie (Elmer) Greather; brother-in-law, Bernie Meyer; and several nieces and nephews.
