Johnny Stewart, age 64 of Buford, and formerly of Duluth and Habersham County, died Monday, January 01, 2007, at Peachtree Christian Hospice following an extended illness. Born in Habersham County on January 01, 1943, he was the son of the late Virgil & Effie Mae Wheeler Stewart. He was a retired truck driver with Sherwin-Williams who enjoyed motorcycles and car racing and was of the Church of God faith. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Lee Roy Stewart, Bobby Stewart, Billy Stewart and Doug Stewart; and sisters, Louise Patterson and Deborah Stewart. Surviving are daughter, Paige Stewart of Hoschton; daughter and son-in-law, Stacy & Scott Waits of Buford; grandson, Blake Holcomb; brothers, Ray Stewart of Mt. Airy, Jimmy Stewart of Demorest, Herman Stewart of Atlanta, Herbert Stewart of Bethany, OK and Buddy Stewart of Norman, OK; and sisters, Geneva Ivester of Mableton, Sue Terry of Cornelia and Winnie Lou Tench of Clarkesville. The family will receive friends at McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home in Cornelia on Tuesday, January 02, 2007, from 7-9 pm. Funeral services are 2:00 pm Wednesday, January 03, 2007, from the Chapel of Bill Head Funeral Home in Duluth with Pastor Anthony Shore and Rev. Ernest Hunter officiating. The family will receive friends at the Bill Head Funeral Home in Duluth from noon until the funeral hour on Wednesday.
