WINDER - Two men are on trial in Barrow County Superior Court for the May 27 shooting death of 22-year-old Aaron Lamar Gaddis of Statham.
Maurice Flourney, 26, of Monroe and Michael Antonio Williams, 28, of Stone Mountain face charges of malice murder, felony murder, kidnapping with bodily injury, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon as well as two counts of kidnapping and three counts of aggravated assault, , according to Barrow County Superior Court officials.
Jury selection was completed Monday and the trial began that afternoon. Closing arguments are expected Thursday or Friday.
Flourney is being represented by attorney Katie Anderson and Williams by attorney Vince Keese, both court appointed counsel, according to Superior Court officials. Prosecution is not expected to seek the death penalty, court officials said.
Gaddis was shot in a car traveling down the road with Flourney and Williams. He was shot after Flourney and Williams went to Gaddis' residence because Flourney wanted to sell his car and Gaddis was looking for one, police said.
Gaddis died of a single gunshot wound to the chest.
