•DULUTH - The Starbucks Coffee shop at 1630 Pleasant Hill Road in Duluth was robbed Tuesday by two armed men.

According to a police report, two armed black men entered the coffee shop shortly before 9 p.m. and demanded employees take them to the store's safe.

The store manager said the men took an unknown amount of money from the safe and the cash register before fleeing.

The manager said a Cobb County Starbucks was robbed recently by men fitting the same description.

Child playing with lighter starts fire on mattress

•NORCROSS - Firefighters say a 6-year-old child playing with a cigarette lighter caused a fire that ignited a mattress in the bedroom of an Ivey Brook Apartment at 3605 Holcomb Bridge Road in Norcross on Thursday.

The 6-year-old, a second child and their 13-year-old sibling escaped the fire as the sprinkler system extinguished the flames, said Gwinnett County Fire Department spokesman Lt. Thomas Rutledge. The children's mother was at the store when the fire began shortly before 8 a.m.

He said the family of three is receiving assistance from apartment management after being displaced from their home.

Rutledge said firefighters suggest placing matches and lighters out of the reach of children.

Shoplifter gives wine bottle back

•AUBURN - A shoplifter returned a bottle of Manischewitz when confronted by an Ingles clerk Monday.

The clerk told Auburn police officers that a customer reported seeing a white man stuff the bottle of wine down his pants and leave. The clerk said when she confronted the man in the parking lot, he pulled the wine from his pants, placed it on the ground and drove away.

The clerk got the license plate number from the car.
