NORCROSS - A 23-year-old Alpharetta man died Thursday after his motorcycle collided with a Toyota Camry at the intersection of Crooked Creek Road in Norcross.
Gwinnett County Police Department spokesman Cpl. Darren Moloney said the driver of the Camry, 53-year-old Sheila L. Mastrangelo of Norcross failed to yield at the stop sign on Crooked Creek Road, crashing into a Yamaha YZFR6 motorcycle driven by Lee D. Boss.
Moloney said preliminary investigations indicate Mastrangelo was traveling south on Crooked Creek Road and attempted to turn left onto Holcombe Bridge Road as Boss drove through the intersection.
Boss, who was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center, died at the hospital as a result of injuries acquired in the accident.
Moloney said the police department's Accident Investigation Unit was called to assess the scene around 8:12 p.m. Thursday, shortly after Boss was transported to the hospital.
He said road conditions appeared normal at the time of the crash and neither driver seemed to be impaired.
"Drugs nor alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors in this fatality," Moloney said.
He said Boss was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
Mastrangelo, who Moloney said was wearing her seat belt, did not require any emergency attention.
Moloney added that charges are pending against Mastrangelo, who was listed at fault, for misdemeanor second degree vehicular homicide.
