Coca-Cola to put caffeine labels on all U.S. products
•ATLANTA - The Coca-Cola Co., the world's largest beverage maker, said Wednesday it will put caffeine content information on the labels of all of its drink products distributed in the United States that include the ingredient.
The Atlanta-based company said the plan was voluntary and part of an industry initiative.
Coca-Cola said it already has included caffeine labeling on its Full Throttle and Enviga products. It said it will roll out the new labels on its other brands, starting with cans of Coca-Cola Classic in May, and then expanding to other brands and packages.
Group: Economic activity to post modest gains
•NEW YORK - A gauge of future economic activity rose modestly in January, an industry-backed trade group said Wednesday, suggesting the U.S. economy will continue to post modest gains in the coming months.
The Conference Board said its index of leading economic indicators rose 0.1 percent last month, dampened by the housing market slump and sluggish auto manufacturing. The reading was slower than the revised 0.6 reading from December and lower than the 0.2 percent rise economists were expecting.
Stocks finish mixed after
•NEW YORK - Stocks finished mixed Wednesday after consumer prices showed a larger-than-expected increase in January and minutes from the Federal Reserve's last meeting showed the central bank considered but decided against taking a more dovish tone on the threat of inflation.
Inflation again commanded Wall Street's attention, with the latest readings leaving some investors unnerved. Only last week Wall Street rallied after Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke told Congress that inflation appeared to be moderating as the economy was showing sustainable growth.
