Two teenagers killed in car wreck

BUFORD - Two teenage boys were killed in a car wreck on Camp Branch Road at 4:36 p.m. Tuesday. Indications are that both boys were Mill Creek High School students, according to Sloan Roach, Gwinnett County Public School spokeswoman.

Mill Creek High School Principal Jim Markham is waiting to hear confirmation of the students identities and will make a statement to the student body after funeral arrangements are made, Roach said.

Police reports state that a Chevrolet Malibu carrying three teenage boys was traveling southbound on Camp Branch Road between Ivy Creek Road and Trailing Ivy Way. While attempting to negotiate a curve, the Malibu ran off the road, over corrected, then entered the opposite lane sideways. The Malibu collided with a Ford utility truck traveling northbound on Camp Branch Road.

The Malibu's driver was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center and is expected to survive his injuries. Both the front and rear occupants were pronounced dead at the scene.

The Ford was driven by Dominick Buscemi, 35, of Buford. Buscemi did not require emergency medical attention, but his arm and knee were bothering him, his mother, Louetta Buscemi, said.

Louetta Buscemi was talking to her son on the phone when the accident happened.

"He said, 'Oh, no,' I heard the crash and the phone went dead," she said. "I called my husband at work and he got a hold of Nick. I feel for the other parents."

Police reports state it appears that speed was a factor in the accident. All the parties were wearing their seat belts.

Eight counselors will be at the affected school on Wednesday to offer grief counseling, with more on call if needed.

In October, three Gwinnett County High School students were killed in a car wreck on Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road in Suwanee. Two were students at North Gwinnett High School and one attended Peachtree Ridge High School.
