LAWRENCEVILLE - A lane of Interstate 85 north will close every weekday for two weeks, as crews work on the reconstruction of the interstate's interchange with Ga. Highway 316.
The outside or right lane of I-85 north will close from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. weekdays beginning today, if weather permits.
"Crews will remove temporary barrier wall along the interstate and pave the new collector distributor lanes," Georgia Department of Transportation spokeswoman Teri Pope said.
Crews will also work this week on the Boggs Road bridge over I-85, closing the inside lane in each direction to remove the existing median on the bridge.
The lanes will be closed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. this week, and the shoulder of I-85 south will be closed from Singleton Creek to Old Norcross Road from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. for the next two weeks.
Work will continue outside the existing lanes of traffic on the $147 million project, expected to be complete in December of 2008, Pope said.
