Mrs. Ruth Fleming Segars, age 97 of 1150 Bramlett Shoals Rd., Lawrenceville, GA, died Sunday night, February 18th, 2007 at the Medical Arts Health Facility in Lawrenceville, GA. She was married to the late Lee A. Segars. She was born in Banks County on April 17, 1909 to the late Thomas Grayson and Mary Gordon Fleming. She grew up on a farm in Banks County where she later graduated from high school in Carnesville, GA along with her sisters, Elma and Edna. She was a homemaker and lived for a number of years in the Sardis Community in Hartwell, GA where her husband, Lee, was a Principal of Sardis School. They were members of the Sardis Baptist Church. Later she lived in Summerville, GA, McDonough, GA, and last in Conyers, GA for 39 years. She was a member of Conyers First Baptist Church at the time of her death. She resided in several nursing facilities for the last seven and half years of her life. Survivors include: Son, Don Segars of Lawrenceville, GA; Two Brothers: Odis Fleming of Cornelia, GA and John Marvin Fleming of Decatur, GA. She had three grandchildren, Jon Segars of El Paso, TX, Mark Segars of Columbus, OH and Susan Garrison of Conyers, GA. She also had five great grandchildren. The funeral will be Wednesday, February 21st at 2:00 P.M. from the Chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home with Dr. Lamar Holley officiating. Interment will be in the Webbs Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Larry O. Walker, Jr., age 55, of Lawrenceville, passed away Friday, February 16, 2007. He was born in Atlanta on July 5, 1951. Mr. Walker attended Georgia State University, sang with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus for 20 years, received the Order of the Arrow of Boy Scouts of America, sang a solo for the Archbishop of Canterbury, received a scholarship from the Atlanta Organ Guild, and served as a tenor soloist and organist for several area churches. While living in Atlanta, he was an auditor for Federated and Gulf Insurance Companies before moving to Hendersville, N. C. where he then worked for Park Ridge Memorial Hospital. Larry returned to Georgia and lived in Life Care Center of Lawrenceville where he shared his horticulture talents by growing flowers and herbs for the residents to enjoy. He also helped organize the Life Care Olympics. Surviving are his parents, Lawrence O. and Dorothy Warr Walker, College Park; sister, Linda Walker Moon and her husband, Larry of Jefferson; brothers, David Walker and his wife, Carol of Canton; Ben Walker and his wife, Diane of Monroe. His nephews are Charlie and Chad Moon, David Walker, Jr. (Maria), and Zachary, Nicholas, Andrew and Joshua Walker. His niece is Jennifer Walker. He is also survived by several uncles, aunts and their families. Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Fevruary 20 in the chapel of Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home, Peachtree City with Dr. J. W. Wallis and Rev. Butch Butcher officiating.
