Man charged with raping, kidnapping Norcross woman

NORCROSS - A Norcross man was arrested Tuesday and charged with raping a 41-year-old Norcross woman after allegedly forcing his way into her vehicle at a DeKalb County night club Monday.

Gwinnett County Police Department spokesman Cpl. Darren Moloney said Esteban Pineda, 28, of 1223 Brays Mill Trace in Norcross, allegedly approached the victim while she was sitting in her vehicle around 2 a.m. outside the Tenapa Night Club on Chamblee Tucker Road. He said the woman was waiting for her husband who worked at the club.

Moloney said the woman told police Pineda drove a blue pick-up truck into the parking lot of the club, pointed a gun at her and forced his way into her vehicle.

"(The victim) initially told responding officers two men were in the vehicle but one left and Pineda entered the vehicle," Moloney said.

Moloney believed Pineda took control of the woman's vehicle and drove to a secluded area first in DeKalb County where the woman was allegedly sexually assaulted and then into Gwinnett County where he again sexually assaulted the woman.

"There's strong evidence that she was sexually assaulted," Moloney said.

Moloney was unsure if the incident took place inside the victim's vehicle or if she was forced to a place other than her vehicle.

He said the victim was released at a unknown location in Gwinnett County after the second assault and she then called police.

Moloney was unsure if Pineda worked at the night club or had any connection to the business.

"I don't know what (Pineda) was doing at the club," Moloney said.

He said he was unsure if there was any witnesses at the time of the incident or if any one heard the woman scream in defense before Pineda allegedly entered the vehicle.

Pineda is charged with false imprisonment, kidnapping, aggravated sodomy, rape, possession of a firearm during a crime, and possession of marijuana.

Pineda remains at the Gwinnett County Detention Center without bond.
