Mrs. Selma Phillips Martin, age 86, of Commerce, GA, formerly of Flowery Branch, passed away February 13, 2007. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Martin. She is survived by a niece: Gail and Paul Allen of Commerce, GA; Brother-in-Law: Mr. John Taylor of Anderson, South Carolina; Several Cousins. She was predeceased by her sister, Ruth Cowan and is survived by her husband, Homer Lee Cheek of Decatur, GA; sister, Mozelle Cruce of Grayson, GA; brothers, Wylie C. Westbrook, Jr. of Chattanooga, TN, Scott Morris Westbrook of Tucker, GA; and 14 nieces and nephews. Mrs. Root was a native of Perry, Florida, a homemaker, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Janet Moss Askew, 61, of Flowery Branch, went to be with the Lord and her heavenly family on February 13, 2007. Funeral services will be Friday, February 16, 2007 at 1 P.M. at Hebron Baptist Church, Dacula, with the remains placed in state at 12:30 P.M. Rev. Mack Palmer and Rev. Alton Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Broadlawn Memorial Gardens, Buford. Janet was a native of Walton County and had lived most of her life in Gwinnett County. She retired as an executive secretary with Foster Wheeler in Norcross and was a member of Hebron Baptist Church and the Sisters in Christ Sunday School Class. She loved her church family as much as her own family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Madison and Cleo Moss of Lilburn. Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Jerry Askew of Flowery Branch; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Christina Askew of Monroe; daughter and son-in-law, Jeannie and Victor Sandoval of Winder; five grandchildren, Michelle and Stephanie Askew, Monica, Christopher and Cody Sandoval; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill Moss of Havlock, NC, Madison and Earnestine Moss of Lithonia, Glenn Moss of Flowery Branch, James and Ann Moss of Auburn and Tim Moss of Taylorsville, GA; sisters and brothers-in-law, Frances Reeder of Dearborn, MI, Patty and Joe Anderson of Loganville, Irene and Griff Brown of Loganville, Linda Carnes of Lilburn, Laura Moss of Buford; a number of nieces and nephews. Janet was a wonderful wife, mother, "grammie", sister, and aunt to her family.
