Gwinnett Daily Post
Not surprisingly, Gwinnett County was well represented in the recently released Georgia Athletic Coaches Association All-Star football teams for 2006.
The teams, which were broken down by classification, feature both a North squad and a South squad for each class.
Norcross and Buford were the two county schools that had the most players chosen, with the Blue Devils placing three players on the AAAAA team and the Wolves placing four on the AA squad.
In AAAAA, Norcross quarterback Bryce Dykes, Grayson offensive lineman James Boatright, Norcross wide receiver Darius Hanks, Central Gwinnett linebacker Bryce Smith, Norcross defensive lineman Brooks Cunningham, Peachtree Ridge defensive lineman Cameron Heyward and Peachtree Ridge defensive back Phillip Davis made the first team. Brookwood's Rennie Curran was named Defensive Player of the Year by the coaches.
In AAAA, Dacula wide receiver Cameron Kenney was named to the first-team.
In AA, GAC quarterback Lee Chapple, Buford lineman Brandon McEachern, Buford wide receiver David Hendrix, Buford linebacker Trey Hunsucker and Buford defensive lineman Omar Hunter were named to the first-team squad.
