WINDER - Barrow County Commissioners might make a move toward running sewer to Ga. Highway 211 in Tuesday's commission meeting.
Commissioners will consider spending $111,240 to design a pump station force main and gravity sewer to convey wastewater to Winder's Cedar Creek Plant. The pump station will be located on the Mulberry River and will be paid for by penny sales tax funds.
"This is the first step towards getting sewer to the (Ga.) Highway 211 corridor," Terry Darragh, public works director, wrote in a memorandum to commissioners.
If approved, H. S. Feldman Inc. will provide all field studies, designs and drawings and work to have the documents approved by the Environmental Protection Agency, prepare bid documents and assist with project inspection and start up. Barrow County will acquire easements.
Commissioners also expect to make appointments to the Board of Health, the Airport Authority and Keep Barrow Beautiful.
