LOGANVILLE - City Council members approved an amendment to the Dec. 14 moratorium imposed on the erection of new signs within the Loganville city limits Thursday night. City attorney Robin Webb recommended a change that would allow wording on signs already in place or already permitted to be altered.
The moratorium is in effect until June 14. City seeking help from tax service Loganville City Manager Bill Jones asked council members Thursday to give Mayor Tim Barron permission to sign a contract with Government Tax Solutions. This organization assists government agencies in collection of delinquent property taxes. According to Jones, there is about $39,000 in uncollected property taxes from 2005, and about the same amount still due from 2006. "We spend about $15,000 a year going after these (taxes)," Jones said. "We don't look at this as a problem currently, but it will be as the city grows." Council members gave the OK for Barron to contract with GTS for its services.More like this story
