LAWRENCEVILLE - A local man is now $1 million richer after winning the new Georgia Lottery instant game Georgia's $500 Million Club.
Yaser Daoud, 28, of Lawrenceville purchased the winning ticket at the BK One Stop, located at 2429 U.S. Highway 29 in Lawrenceville. "I had this feeling today," Daoud said about purchasing the ticket. "When I saw that I'd won, I didn't believe it. I had to ask the cashier if it was right. "Maybe I'll open up a business, probably a clothing store in a mall," he said. The Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $8.8 billion to the state for education, as all Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including the state's HOPE Scholarship Program and Prekindergarten Program.
