Woman found dead outside East Point church

•EAST POINT - Police are investigating the killing of a woman who was found dead Sunday morning just outside an East Point church.

''She did have obvious signs of trauma,'' said East Point Police Sgt. Bobby Gray. ''We're working it as a homicide.''

Thief uses holes to break into store

•ATHENS - A burglar broke into a convenience store by cutting holes in the roof and wall.

Athens-Clarke County police said a hole had been cut in the back wall of a Shell Food Mart, which led to an adjoining vacant building, and another hole was carved into the roof of the neighboring building. A ladder was used to access the roof, police said.

The burglar - or burglars - took about $1,100 in change, $45 in Swisher Sweet cigars and cartons of Newport cigarettes valued at $291, police said.

Autopsy shows drownings were an accident

•MACON - Three brothers who were found dead in a Bibb County creek drowned accidentally, a county coroner said Monday.

Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones said autopsy results established the cause of death for the three, who were found dead in Rocky Creek in January.

Eduarvdo Dorantes Landeverde, 19, was found dead in Rocky Creek Jan. 15. The bodies of his brothers, Jose, 23, and Daniel, 18, were found there Jan. 17.
