Herman E. (Pete) Lasseter went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 02, 2007 after an extended battle with emphysema. Pete was 76 and retired from the GA Department of Labor. He was preceded in death by his father, Herman Thomas Lasseter and his son, Donald Edward (Eddie) Lasseter. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sandra (Sandy); sons, Danny (Beth), Locust Grove, GA, Richard (Judy) of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Ronnie (Felicia) Miami, Florida, Keith, Gainesville, Ga., and daughter, Sherry Davis of Greensboro, NC; 16 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; his mother, Jewell (Jeff) Evans of Auburn, GA and one sister, June Anderson of Atlanta, GA. He was a member of North Metro First Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at Wages & Sons Gwinnett Chapel on Sunday, February 4, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. Frank Cox officiating. Wendell Henry "Papaw" Dalton, age 83, of Lawrenceville, GA died peacefully at home on February 3, 2007 after an extended illness. He was a United States Navy veteran that proudly served on the USS Dewey during World War II. He retired from the General Motors Company at Lakewood after 35 years of service. Wendell was born on October 21, 1923 in Gwinnett County, GA, and raised there his entire life. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Violet Jordan Dalton; Daughters: Patricia and husband Raymond Bales of Lawrenceville, Sandra and husband Victor Steed of Jonesboro, Judy and husband Rev. William A. Hancock, beloved husband and father, died on Jan. 30. He was 61. Bill was born in Philadelphia, PA on Dec. 31, 1945, served in the United States Navy, and at the time of his death worked as a Tax Specialist for the Georgia Department of Revenue. He was an active member of North Point Community Church and loved his small group. He enjoyed sailboats, books, and listening to music. Most of all, he loved spending time with this family, especially his five grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; and daughters, Marjorie Presten, Heather Wright, and Jill Miner. Carson E. Melvin, age 70 of Monroe, GA died February 2, 2007. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Marlene Melvin; sons and daughters-in-law, Timothy and Mollie Melvin of Covington, John and Maria Melvin of Suwanee; brother, Joseph Melvin of Grand Saline, TX; grandchildren, Caitlin, Olivia, Julia, Joshua, Caleb; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Melvin was a US Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was retired from the State of Georgia as the Director of the State Merit System's Flexible Benefit Program and was a member of Camp Creek Primitive Baptist Church.
