Theaters to offer one-of-a-kind health preview

LAWRENCEVILLE - A special public health announcement will run in local movie theaters throughout the new year.

The ad, which will run now until Jan. 3, aims to encourage families and individuals to buy the 11 essential items needed to create a home emergency preparedness kit in case of a major disaster.

Colonial 18, Town Center Value Cinemas and Discover Mills 18 in Lawrenceville as well as Hollywood Stadium Cinemas in Gainesville, Mall of Georgia 20 in Buford, Snellville Oaks 14 in Snellville and Venture Value Cinemas in Duluth will run the ads, funded through a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

End of the year blood drive to be held in Snellville

SNELLVILLE - LifeSouth will host a blood drive in Snellville this week in an effort to replenish some of the state's dwindling blood supply.

Look for the bloodmobile from noon to 6 p.m. Friday in the parking lot of the Sam's Club located at 1520 Scenic Highway.

The mobile blood unit will also be at the Sam's Club at 3450 Steve Reynolds Boulevard in Duluth from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday.

All donors will receive a recognition item and a complimentary cholesterol screening.

Donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh 110 pounds or more and show a photo ID at the time of donation.
