LAWRENCEVILLE - Two young sensations-to-be are headlining a free concert in Duluth today.
Keke Palmer, star of "Akeelah and the Bee," and Drew Seeley, who sang "High School Musical" heartthrob Troy's songs in the program's concert tour, will be at the city's Festival Center for a concert that starts at 2 p.m. The Radio Disney Jingle Jam show comes to Duluth after leaving Orlando. Festivities start at noon, with karaoke, a life-sized version of the game Hyperslide and a robotic dog among the entertainment. Angela Scherr, a promotions coordinator with Radio Disney, said the event has featured upcoming artists like Everlife, the Jonas Brothers and B5 in previous years. The Jingle Jam serves to raise public awareness of new artists, Scherr said. Palmer, 14, released her debut album, "So Uncool" with the songs "Footworkin" and "Keep It Movin." Seeley, 25, co-wrote "Getcha Head in the Game" and has performed on the "High School Musical" and "Cheetah Girls 2" soundtracks. "It's going to be a fabulously fun event," Scherr said. "It's going to be a phenomenal show." The performers will be available to sign autographs after their sets. Alisa Williams, who does marketing for Duluth, said she expected 5,000 people to attend the show.More like this story
