BUFORD - Gwinnett police believe the same older white man might be behind two discreet robberies at a Buford bank this month.
Police released images Thursday of the man in his 50s suspected of twice robbing a SunTrust bank inside a Publix grocer at 5885 Cumming Highway.
The robber's modus operandi is similar in both cases, police said.
On Dec. 3, the man entered the bank and slipped a teller a note demanding money, said Gwinnett police spokeswoman Cpl. Illana Spellman.
Nine days later, a man fitting the same description robbed the bank with a similar note. He left with an undisclosed amount of money in a bag containing a red dye pack, Spellman said.
A witness saw the man running to a 2000 or older Ford Mustang with another white male in the driver's seat. Later that day, police found the bag he carried with the exploded dye.
Police describe the suspect as 5 feet 8 inches tall, about 190 pounds with short gray hair. He was last seen wearing a red baseball cap with an eagle symbol.
Gwinnett police urge anyone with information about the robberies to call the criminal investigation section at 770-513-5300.
