DULUTH - Gwinnett Gladiators goaltender Craig Kowalski and defenseman Jamie Milam will be starters on the American Conference All-Star team, the ECHL announced on Thursday.
This is the first selection for both players, who were college teammates at Northern Michigan University.
The all-star festivities are being held in Stockton, Calif., Jan. 22-23.
Milam leads ECHL defensemen with eight goals and is tied for third with 19 points in 24 games. His brother, Troy, represented the Gladiators in the game in 2004 and 2006 when he was voted as a starter. Milam was picked for last year's ECHL All-Rookie team.
Kowalski, who was named the Rbk Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Dec. 3-9, is on loan to Syracuse of the AHL. The 26-year-old is 11-3-1 with a 2.25 goals-against average and a .926 save percentage for Gwinnett.
Rounding out the starting lineup are forwards Aaron Slattengren (Augusta), Yannick Tifu (Dayton) and John McNabb (Texas), and Elmira defenseman Bryan Rodney.
The starting lineups are determined in voting by American Conference coaches, team captains, media directors, broadcasters and media members.
