Parks change hours for holidays
LAWRENCEVILLE - Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation's facilities will be closing for several days in observance of the holiday season. During these days, however, parks will still be open for self-directed use. Saturday, all facilities will close at 6 p.m. All facilities will be closed Sunday through Christmas. These facilities will resume regular hours of operation Dec. 26. Facilities will also close at 6 p.m. Dec. 31. Facilities will also be closed Jan. 1. For more information, visit www.gwinnettparks.com or call 770-822-8840. Woman wins lottery LAWRENCEVILLE - A Lawrenceville woman has collected $100,000 from the Georgia Lottery. Maria Enriquez won a top prize playing the instant game $100,000 Monopoly. BK One Stop, located at 2429 U.S. Highway 29 in Lawrenceville, sold the lucky ticket. Enriquez, 25, is a caregiver for the elderly and also works at a laundry. She is still deciding how to use her winnings but is already planning a trip to Texas to see her family. Residents donate for Katrina relief LAWRENCEVILLE - Local residents helped raise more than $85,000 for Habitat for Humanity after donating at Hair Cuttery salons. Nearly 1,000 salons participated in the campaign, raising a total of $88,752 - enough to build a new home for a family in the New Orleans region that was left homeless in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.More like this story
