North Gwinnett announced the selection Tuesday of 17 new members into the high school's Hall of Fame, including 10 athletes from the Class of 2007.
The Bulldogs will hold the Hall's induction ceremony on Jan. 4 between the girls and boys home basketball games against Duluth.
The selections who just finished their North careers in the 2006-07 school year include four baseball players - Mitch Rider, Justin Rahm, Lars Mitchell and Travis Echols. All four are playing college baseball - Rider at Georgia State, Rahm at North Carolina Wesleyan, Mitchell at LaGrange College and Echols at Young Harris.
Four soccer players from the Class of 2007 will be inducted. That group features Samantha Au (now at Kentucky), Angela Franklin, Karl Lane (Young Harris) and Connor Swartout (Catawba). Swimmers Megan D'Urso (South Carolina) and Sarah Looney (Pittsburgh) also were selected for induction.
Although the class featured a high number of 2007 graduates, it also had seven selections from past years, including softball player Heather Pierce Black from the Class of 1989.
Basketball players Jason Prentice (Class of 1997) and Brian Welch (Class of 2001) made the induction list, as well as cheerleaders Katie Aloisio (Class of 2002) and Kayla Yale (Class of 2004), football player Jonathan Loudermilk (Class of 2003) and wrestler Cameron Reeves (Class of 2003).
North's tradition also is to induct teams into the Hall and this year's class features three region champion women's basketball teams from 1959, 1960 and 1962.
Five Bulldog teams from the 2006-07 school year are slated for induction - girls swimming, boys soccer, football, girls golf and baseball.
