Bloodmobile to be in Buford
BUFORD - LifeSouth will host a blood drive at a local supermarket next week. Between the hours of 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. Monday the bloodmobile will be in the parking lot of the Publix at 4840 Golden Parkway in Buford. All donors will receive a recognition item and a free cholesterol screening. Donors must be 17 years old or older, weigh at least 110 pounds and show photo ID at the time of donation. Doctor seeks patients for cancer trial ATLANTA - Piedmont Hospital is looking to enroll cancer patients for a clinical trial to prolong caner survival rates. Led by Dr. Henderson, TRIST (TroVax Renal Immunotherapy Survival Trial), is an international, Phase III clinical trial of Oxford BioMedica's therapeutic cancer vaccine, TroVax, in kidney cancer. Henderson seeks to determine whether TroVax, a type of immunotherapy improves survival for patients with locally advanced or metastatic kidney cancer. The TRIST trial is recruiting 700 patients from 120 centers in 10 countries around the world. YMCA, Red Cross host blood drive WINDER - The American Red Cross is hosting a blood drive at a local YMCA next week. Donors must be 17 years old or older, weigh at least 110 pounds and show photo ID at the time of donation.
