BUFORD - Police arrested and charged a Buford man after his SUV crashed into a Buford townhome and sent its occupants to the hospital Friday night.
According to a police report, 20-year-old David Castaneda of Buford admitted to having a few beers before driving along Sturgeon Road. Castaneda allegedly lost control of the black Dodge Durango, which struck a power pole and a fire hydrant in the parking lot before coming to rest inside the home. According to a Fire Department press release, the SUV took out about a 10-foot section of the residence and the two people inside the townhome at the time were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. Castaneda and his passenger, 37-year-old Jose Luis Bucio Granillo of Buford, tried to hide inside Granillo's nearby home on Sturgeon Road, but witnesses led police to the pair, the release said. Castaneda was charged with underage possession of alcohol and driving without a license and Granillo with possession of cocaine after a powdery white substance seen on the 37-year-old's nose by authorities tested positive for the drug. Both men were transported to and remain at the Gwinnett County Jail.More like this story
